The beginnings of Hermann J. Painitz’s production as an artist in the 1960s are marked by pictures and sculptures in which he explores such subjects as series, rhythm, succession, the suspension of the individual by means of basic geometric shapes, and, subsequently, the transformation of statistical data into pictures.

In the sense of a “logical art” (H. J. Painitz), the works follow inner laws visualized by individual sign systems and finally becoming manifest in “concrete alphabets” and encoded script pictures.

Comprising the artist’s most important workgroups since the 1960s, the exhibition fathoms the special character of this manifold as well as consistent oeuvre.
